Weather permitting, we will weigh anchor in the early morning light to begin our navigation toward the vast, open Pacific. The legendary Noir Island awaits — a pristine bird sanctuary teeming with an overwhelming abundance of wildlife. We anticipate exceptional encounters with Rockhopper, Macaroni, and Magellanic penguins, while patrolling Southern Giant Petrels, Slender-billed Prions, and Sooty Shearwaters fill the skies above.

Situated at the dramatic frontier where the Pacific meets the intricate channels of the Fuegian Archipelago, this wild and unforgiving outpost remains a secluded secret of the southern reaches. While conditions are often rough and challenging, the opportunity to explore such a rugged and untouched island makes for a deeply moving and unforgettable experience.

The surrounding kelp-fringed shores are equally alive, providing habitat for South American Sea Lions and Fur Seals, alongside coastal specialties such as the Striated Caracara, Flightless Steamer-Duck, Kelp Goose, and the inquisitive Blackish Cinclodes.

Weather permitting, we will dedicate another day to the legendary Noir Island, as there remains much to discover and marvel at within this pristine bird sanctuary. Beyond the island's shores, the surrounding fjords and channels of the western archipelago boast a fascinating biodiversity; we will maintain a constant lookout for native wildlife as we explore these remote Fuegian reaches.

Our shore excursions today provide a window into the region's unique botanical wonders. Shaped by the relentless trio of year-round cold, extreme rainfall, and formidable southern winds, this unparalleled flora has evolved to be remarkably resilient. We will have the opportunity to study a vivid mosaic of mosses, lichens, and hardy shrubs, alongside evergreen forests and delicate wildflowers that thrive in this wild, unforgiving environment.

Perched upon the rugged outer frontier of the Fuegian Archipelago where it meets the vast expanse of the open Pacific, the secluded Lort and Kempe Islands offer a labyrinth of sheltered bays and endless opportunities for discovery. Through a combination of immersive Zodiac excursions and dedicated shore landings, we will document these wild reaches from multiple perspectives, seeking intimate encounters with their resilient inhabitants.

As the southern evening approaches, we will navigate back toward the inner reaches of the archipelago. Lying north of our current position is the legendary Francisco Coloane Marine Park — another premier highlight of our expedition that we shall explore in greater depth throughout the coming days.

Established in 2004, the Francisco Coloane Marine Protected Area was declared Chile's very first marine park. Thanks to comprehensive conservation measures, it protects the humpback whale population that returns here every summer to feed in the Straits of Magellan and its neighboring fjords. Beyond the whales, however, the park boasts a diverse array of other marine wildlife, including species such as the South American Sea Lion, Fur Seal, Magellanic Penguin, Striated Caracara, Andean Condor, and the Flightless Steamer-Duck, to name just a few.

We will have a full day dedicated to exploring and discovering this diverse and unique region and its inhabitants. A combination of boat excursions and easy walks ashore will familiarize us with the local environment, as well as its rich fauna and flora.

Weather permitting, we will sail all the way to the western mouth of the Strait of Magellan, where Recalada Island is located. This is one of the many uninhabited, remote, and virtually untouched islands within the Fuegian Archipelago. While it hosts a wide variety of coastal birds, dolphins, otters, and even whales are also frequently spotted in its bays and offshore waters.

We continue our exploration of the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, dedicating another full day to discovering its diverse marine wildlife and pristine landscapes. This is a premier location for whale-watching, with frequent sightings of Humpback and Sei whales, as well as Peale's and Chilean dolphins.

After an exceptionally diverse and fascinating expedition through the untouched, uninhabited fjords and channels of Patagonia — filled with sightings of countless birds and marine mammals, and inspiring, unforgettable excursions by land and sea — we begin our journey back to Punta Arenas. We will enjoy a final cruise through the historic Straits of Magellan. At Carrera Bay, we will say goodbye to the M/V Estoa and her professional crew before a private transfer takes us back to Punta Arenas, where our fascinating expedition ends.
